Baruch Hashem its a boy
The Mom who went into labor on Thursday morning and with whom I spent Thursday night in hospital, gave birth to a 2,75 kg baby boy at 12 midday today. She never went into labor and hte babies head was facing forwards. She was induced with pitocin and she had an epidural 10 minutes before the baby was born. She had done everything wrong up to this stage, she had GBS she was PROM on Thursday at 6am and waited 76 hours before being induced and then an epidural 10 minutes before delivery. She had difficulty in pushing the baby out. But BH it was all over within an hour and a half of the commencement of the pitocin drip.

The mother who does not like ultrasounds went into labor yesterday morning, Thursday, 10th June. She had PROM at 6 am and phone me at 9am. I was on my way to Kever Shmeul Hanovi I went to Kever Rochel on Wednesday to pray for everyone. So I told her I would be with her at midday BH. I arrived and she did not want to go to hospital because her father a Rav who has medical knowledge said to wait. So I went home and waited then at 6 pm she said we should go to hopital. I met her there and she was examined she was PROM with no dilation at all. She did not want to be induced.

friday/shabbos birth
We spent the night together and this morning more than 24 hours later she refused to be induced again. Still no contractions although I have her acupressure to bring them on. But she is at bedrest lying on her side so she cannot do any walking or exercises to speed up matters. She wants a natural birth but if she does not give birth by tomorrow morning they will induce her.In her ward there is a mother who is PROM at 28 weeks expecting triplets. There were was another young mother who is 31 weeks and having contractions and another one who is 38 weeks and 4 centimenters dilated. They have all had experience with induced births and are trying to avoid them at any cost this time round

mothers fears
I met a new mother the other day She does not like to have ultra sounds done as she says they make her feel funny She is nine months pregnant four weeks to go and has not had an ultra sound yet I met another mother who does not want one because she is scared that it may show an abnormality This is not the way to go. Even if their is an abnormality often medical intervantion during pregnancy can save the babies life or improve it, and medical treatment right after birth can mean the difference between life and death This is especially so with necessary heart surgery Also problems picked up during pregnancy can prevent premature births Many mothers dont know vital information. For examply to drink a lot during pregnancy especially in Israel, lack of fluids can lead to premature births That is why I like to start birth classes in the first trimester Many mothers dont do exercises during pregnancy which is also a mistake Exercising leads to easier labor

Dr. Meir Tamari is the former chief economist of the Office of the Governor at the Bank of Israel, and the founder of the Business Ethics Center of Jerusalem. The fundamental question with which the Jewish sources are concerned is the medical costs of the poor - since the wealthy are able to provide for these services, just as they do in the case of other goods or services that they need or desire. Halakhicially, a Jewish community or society, can, if it wishes, legislate free medical care for all; it cannot, however, escape its obligation to provide for the medical needs of the poor, even if it so desires. If, for example, they decided to change a publicly financed medical system to one based strictly on self-insurance, it may be assumed that halakhic authorities would require the community or society to bear the cost of insurance premiums for the poor, to be funded by the tax system Writing to his physician son, Samuel, the medieval Jewish physician Yehuda Ibn Tibon provides a guide for a personal solution to this problem that was typical of many Jewish doctors. "While you take your fees from the rich, heal the poor gratuitously. The Lord will requite you."

for free
According to Jewish law, medical aid should be provided free for those who cannot afford it I believe that in Israel all mothers should have a doula/labour coach present at the birth to help her. With help and encouragement she has a better birth experience and this leads to a healthier mother and child and prevents post partem depression and other medical problems See http://www.besr.org/dvartorah/tamari/tazria.html

its a girl
Its a girl. After a 12 hour labour Miriam was born. She is beautiful. Baruch Hashem, Mom and baby doing fine. The labour was induced because the Mom was told to go home and come back in 3 days, she was having contractions every 2 minutes and didnt relish the idea of suffering for another 3 days during yom tov with a house full of 5 young kids. The labour wasnt easy and she could not take anything for pain. She was induced 4 hours before yom tov at 2.45 and the baby was born at 7.45 if it wasnt for yom tov this situation should have been avoided.
